4th Krishi Unnayan Mela kicks off at Mati Tirtha

first_imgKolkata: West Bengal is witnessing the benefits of the Chief Minister’s vision of giving the farmers of the state a higher income and an improved standard of living, Asish Banerjee, state minister of Agriculture, said while inaugurating the 4th Krishi Unnayan Mela organised by CII in association with Department of Agriculture in east Burdwan on Thursday.He said the farmers’ income has increased almost three times without increase in production costs. According to Banerjee, the increasing mechanisation of agriculture and research and development is helping the development of this space.Speaking at the inaugural function, Swapan Debnath, state minister for Animal Resources and MSME, reiterated that under the Chief Minister’s directive, fair pricing of crops has been ensured, farm equipment made available to farmers and crop insurance is available to farmers during natural disasters.The 4th edition of “Krishi Unnayan Mela” will be from October 4 to 6 at Mati Tirtha Ground.last_img
