Farmington High volunteer named ‘Senior Adult Extraordinaire’

(Farmington Public Schools)Loretta Keller received the award during the district’s 22nd Annual Senior Adult Breakfast, held October 23 at the Costick Center in Farmington Hills. For the past three years, Farmington High counselors have relied on her to make copies, handle mailings, prepare packets for new students, and compile packets for class meetings.She was nominated for the award by counselors Renee Champagne, Kristy Knieper, and Stacey Rosol, and counseling secretary Kathy Koernke, attendance secretary Angela Braggs, and counseling tech Georgina Schuetz,“Her commitment to help the FHS Counseling Department is unwavering,” Rosol said in a press release. “She even came in over the summer to help put together new enrollment packets when it was especially busy and our counseling secretary, Kathy Koernke, needed help.”“I am so excited,” Keller said. “I love to volunteer,  and I am proud to serve the District in this capacity.”The Breakfast gives senior citizens an opportunity to learn more about the district, interact with students and school personnel, and enjoy student performances, given this year by the Harrison High School Orchestra, under the direction of Tom Schroeder, and the North Farmington High School Choir, under the direction of Jason Debant.Past award winners include: Betty Bemis, John Weigel, Lorice Khoury, Bob Long, Dianne Long, Nancy Waldman, Ray Okonski, Marge Whittemore, Nancy Leflar, Michael Liebowitz, Diane DeSousa, Allan Whittemore, Virginia Starr, Lincoln Avery, Leona Goetzke, Demetra Mehas, Tina Mehas and Toula Mehas.
